About Us
After a teaching profession of 20 years in the Bradford Area, I decided it was time for a change. I had been a Family Studies Teacher for 7 years, taken 4 H as a young girl and had always been interested in Nutrition, Baking and Cooking. So when the existing Bulk Food store in Bradford came up for sale in December 1988, I decided that was what I would like to do. Having been born in the Scotch Settlement and having lived in Bradford West Gwillimbury all my life, with a short time in Toronto and Lefroy, it was only natural to settle here and try my luck in the retail sector. Having a husband who worked for Loblaw's and 2 grown sons to help me get started, gave me the boost I needed. When I started Nancy's Nifty Nook, I thought we would be in business for 5-10 years but we are now in our 36th year and still helping our customers with their baking, cooking and Health issues.
In today’s economy, being a shop keeper has its challenges, but the thing that I find most satisfying is the help that we have been able to provide to people over the years…both health wise and emotionally. Sometimes, I find that all someone needs is another person to talk to; that in itself can be the healing factor that is needed. That you will not find with on-line shopping. We will give you the individual service that you deserve. A few years ago, we saw the need for good tasting gluten free baked goods so we introduced cakes, pies, muffins, squares, cookies and quiches to our customers so now I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Special occasion orders for cakes are part of our service. Please remember to give us lots of notice for special orders No one knows what lies ahead but I hope that we can continue to be a valuable service to the community in the future. We will help where we can, listen when we are needed and enjoy our days with the people who have become, over the years, our friends, and look forward to making new friends along our path in this lifework that we have chosen.
